Hi, I used to use the SML/NJ package when I was in college for doing projects, so I know it is a useful package to have around. Also, it is one of my favorate languages, so I would like to see it around in Debian. I see that someone is already working on the SML/NJ (97 days preparation), but the link: <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?archive=no&bug=153880 confuses me to who has actually volunteered to take this task on. So just for my own fun, I decided to make a deb to see how the process works. The files are available from: <http://aread.sdf1.org/debian/> These are from the sml/nj working release, which is believed to be stable and is recommended for non-critical use only. I used this version because the build system in it is a lot more conducive to packaging than older versions. I could fight with a "release" version if this is deemed more appropriate. Since the distribution does not come from a single tarball, I packaged the relevant tar files into a larger one, unpacking only config.tar, as the install.sh script likes to unpack files on its own. I did not include a debian/watch file because I did not know how to deal with this situation. Also I included boot files for all unix architectures so it can build on multiple platforms. I built for all standard options, but would like to do a multiple binary package with ckit, eXene, etc... at some point in the future. Also I wrote man pages for all executables in the package. I can't think of anything else off-hand. Please check them out and give me some feedback so I can improve the packages. Aaron -- Where is fancy bread, in the heart or in the head?
