You need to create a tkman_2.1.orig.tar.gz yourself in the parent
directory of the build directory. This can (and usually should) just
be a renamed version of the original tkman .tar.gz file.

So you have /.../tkman/tkman-2.1.orig.tar.gz and
/.../tkman/tkman-2.1/... as your build tree. Then debuild in the
build tree will generate /.../tkman/tkman_2.1-4{.diff.gz,.dsc,
_<arch>.deb,_<arch>.changes}

I have a vague recollection that this information is in the New
Maintainers' Guide.
