You might like to inspect my last commits before I uploaded to new.

You have now two packages in new and should be prepared to do some
self-standing work (hopefully - if not you know where to ask).  You
can pick whatever task you might like to do which can be bug fixing,
writing autopkgtests or other new packages.

Regarding bug fixing you can seek for targets on the general BTS
page of our team
