upstream/metadata with references to software catalogs?

Matúš and I are having a mini-sprint together - directly at the baltic
sea - to get the integration of Debian packages and their annotation
with the bio.tools registry a bit of a push. One issue that just came up
was that the accession number/ID of the uploaded entry should be stored
somewhere. We thought that debian/upstream/metadata would be a good home
for this information. That entry would not only be for decorative
purposes but basically help to update entries when our debian/control or
debian/upstream/{edam,metadata} files have changed. Would anyone mind?
