Ahh, I should have read this mail before answering your other mail.
Well, I have to admit that I personally did not created a new Git
repository but I simply assume if you go to
vasks:/git/debian-med
and create the repository *there* it will not end up in your home.

You should have write permission to vasks:/git/debian-med and you should
be able to move everything in place yourself.

That should be fine and for this exact purpose the Git repository
exists. However, it helps if more than one person works on one package
to talk to each other first (in other words - I do not know Steffens
current preference). I'm for myself a bit SVN centric but perfectly
willing to switch to git and happy about any new reason to learn more
about Git.

This is probably because of historical reasons.

Yes, definitely. New stuff goes into trunk.

If nobody else will sponsor MrBayes and I will go for the sponsoring you
can feel perfectly free to choose your prefered repository and I'll
adapt.
