I once invented the group gnumed to handle access permissions to the
postgresql server.  This reason vanished for a really long time but the
code to add the gnumed group remained.  I do not want to make things
more complicated than necessary and would strictly follow the advise
of upstream.  The options to fix this are:

  1. Drop the gnumed group completely.
  2. Readd the dependency of gnumed-server from gnumed-common
  3. ???

Just make a suggestion and I will follow your advise.
