No it's gone:

andi@flashgordon:~/devel/debian-live$ sudo lb clean
P: Executing auto/clean script.
P: Cleaning chroot
andi@flashgordon:~/devel/debian-live$ ls
auto  cache  config

Yeah, I always use sudo for all commands.
