we've tried to address the issue within d-i itself, and it was working,
i remember that i tested it with swiss-german and swiss-french layouts.

i'll give it another try with your combination, and it would be nice if
you could do so too, preferably with the latest daily image from
http://live.debian.net/cdimage/.

no argument here, it's a quite bad bug (if it's still there).
