I'd expect it to use up less RAM. But I can't speak from direct
experience.
Still, with a careful choice of programs, it seems possible to run in
100-something MB. Heck, LTSP <http://www.ltsp.org> seems to cope with
48MB (it depends on a "mothership" for running the user applications,
though).
What desktop environment are you targetting?
