custom kernel in local directory

if I install my packages like this:
dpkg -i
./unionfs-modules-2.6.18-4-bootsplash-686_1.4+debian-4+2.6.18.4_i386.deb
./squashfs-modules-2.6.18-4-bootsplash-686_3.1r2-6.1+2.6.18.4_i386.deb
./linux-image-2.6.18-4-bootsplash-686_2.6.18.4_i386.deb
I have a warning because the directory
/lib/modules/2.6.18-4-bootsplash-686/kernel still exists.
If I say Yes, the installation will stop with the sentence "Ok,
aborting, since modules for this image already exist"
