To have the freedom of putting drafts, stubs and low quality materials on it I 
think :-)

We plan to resolv a problem, we are discussing how to do it, maybe a 
collection of new tools will be necessary.

Short answers:

- knoppix is not debian. :-)
- dfsbuild does atm not support squashfs, unionfs and udev.

We consider the "casper" solution adopted by ubuntu as a beautiful and 
powerful one. (It uses hooks to initramfs-tools and installs services to 
work)

I'm working on casper to take out the relevant part and reduce the "nasty 
hacks" necessary to produce ubuntu-live.

Please try to ook at home wiki page to select a technology to investigate, 
document and develop.
