I don't want to start the whole "is software patentable in Europe"
discussion, but please keep in mind that MPEG and MP3 patents are routinely
enforced against (embedded) software implementations by European courts.
Setting up a EU repository and thinking this will solve all patent problems
is a little too easy I'm afraid.
