Is this DFSG-free?
[ please keep me on the Cc: list. Thanks ]
Hi,
is this free:
# Permission to use, copy, modify and distribute this software and
# its documentation without fee, and without a written agreement, is

# complete text of this comment appear in all copies, and provided

# EVEN IF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA AND/OR THE AUTHOR OF THIS
# SOFTWARE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
what makes me ask is that it seems that redistributing the software
for a fee is not allowed. Any suggestions for the author to make this
DFSG-free?
Thanks,
Marcelo
PS: The software this license refers to is of "academic nature", ergo
the attribution clause regarding publications. I think it's safe
to asume publications here means "papers, conferences and such"
and this is not the same as the advertising clause of the original
BSD license, but I wonder if a clarification along those lines is
also needed.
