Re: pcmcia wireless puzzle: 2.6.0/Debian testing/unstable
Some update in my case with Linksys WPC11 v4.
I went on Andrea Merello's development site:
http://rtl8180-sa2400.sourceforge.net/
I downloaded the latest source from CVS
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/rtl8180-sa2400/rtl8180-sa2400-dev/
and it compiled fine.
I followed the excellent README and INSTALL instructions
Then:
mv *.ko /lib/modules/2.6.12/kernel/drivers/net/wireless
depmod -a
I did not have to put alias information in /etc/modprobe.d
When I replug'ed the card hotplug got it recognized and loaded the
driver. (Don't know how this works...)
I'll be happy to reply with more details if anyone needs any.

I am in the same situation:
Like Jim, my Linksys WPC11 v4 does not seem to be recognized in
/var/log/syslog and like Steffen,
it shows up in lspci as Realtek 8180 Rev. 20
What is supposed to happen automatically in a perfect 2.6.12 world and
what do I have to set up myself?
had I somewhat managed to figure out what to do in 2.4 but I am confused
with my switch to 2.6.12 as to what documentation I should consult:
apparently, not cardmgr, but hotplug (which was desintalled by udev)
or udev?
