I just noticed this same problem that was talked about here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-laptop/2005/03/msg00301.html ... but I was unable to find a fix. Was there any resolution on this issue? When the network is busy, the NumLock light flashes on the laptop, and actually causes the NumLock feature to go on and off. The numeric keypad keys on the keyboard sometimes act like regular keys and sometimes as keypad keys. This is really annoying when you are ssh-ed somewhere and trying to type at a normal rate... if you type fast enough any key on the right side of the keyboard becomes a keypad key. :( BTW, I have a X41 so it's not just the T42.
