Hmm... this is now a mere guessing by me, but i had a similiar effect
here on my IBM thinkpad. Could the Problem be related to some APM/ACPI
interrupt stuff? For me was it as i first used the 2.6 series of the
kernel with APM enabled instead of acpi, i would move the mouse and a
second later it'd be out of sync and my cpu on max load.

But as i do not really know about your notebook, this is, as said, just
a guess.
