Thanks for that Stuart, worked like a charm! At least for turning debugging on anyway.

I now can see what's going wrong, although how to fix it is a different story.

The only way I can get this to work is to up the interface first as eth0, then down it before running ifrename.

Hotplug is running ifrename before upping eth0, so ifrename is not working and the rest of it is just downhill from here.

I'll try renaming my logical interface for the WG511 to eth0 to see if this is what the problem is...
