quieter fan was Re: Acer TM 634 fan always on

Well the fan's still on, but it's quieter now. :)

I had to do "modprobe" instead of "insmod" to get the modules loaded. Why
does one work but not the other?

I've loaded the following according to:
http://wojas.vvtp.tudelft.nl/acertm/

ospm_system
ospm_ec
ospm_battery
ospm_ac_adapter
ospm_thermal
ospm_processor
ospm_button
(and added them to /etc/modules)

I'm not sure if there are more (the URL is using the 2.4.18 kernel but I'm
using the 2.4.20 kernel).

Here's my .config for the power management section:
CONFIG_ACPI=m
# CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_BUSMGR=m
CONFIG_ACPI_SYS=m
CONFIG_ACPI_CPU=m
CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=m
CONFIG_ACPI_AC=m
CONFIG_ACPI_EC=m
CONFIG_ACPI_CMBATT=m
CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL=m
# CONFIG_APM is not set

emma :) <-- and now for some sound.
