My kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-586tsc has the i82365 module.  Has its
use
been deprecated?

I don't know. I've not seen the i82365 module since I switched up to the 2.4 kernel. Instead, I've used the yenta_socket module and all has worked fine. Did you build the kernel or install the kernel image?
