I see two possibities now.
1st: did you start kismet as root or as normal user, because the message
locks much like the one I get every time I start kismet as normal user
and not root.

2nd: Because of this line
  FATAL:  Invalid source line 'prism2_hostap,wlan0'
I think it could also be an error in /etc/kismet/kismet.conf. There has
to be a line which says: source=prism2_hostap,wlan0,Kismet and to me
this FATAL: ... says there's only a line source=prism2_hostap,wlan0

I hope this helps

apropos driver: I searched a bit in the net and found that the MA401
works just fine with the hostap-driver so that's nearly shure not a
problem.
