Re: erratic pointer movements and "false clicks" problem SOLVED!
Thank you -- Problem solved! I looked at my XF86Config-4 and saw that I was using /dev/psaux for my mouse device; and I checked my /dev directory for the possibility of a link from /dev/psaux to gpm. Nope! But gpm was definitely running. So I killed the gpm process, and my trackpoint and external mouse both work perfectly now.
Dudes, you rock! Debian users are the best!
