since i don't have mail configured on my laptop, i'll just post this here and hope it gets to the right hands. with linux 2.4.19-pre6 and pcmcia-cs 3.1.33-6, the /etc/init.d/pcmcia script fails to start properly, and i think it is due to the way it loads the modules. i think it is resorting to insmod, and a dependency is getting in the way. i'm using the yenta_socket module. upon start, my pcmcia nic doesn't initialize and call dhclient. it takes an /etc/init.d/pcmcia restart to get it working. restart seems to work because it doesn't unload the modules. i corrected this problem by editting away the insmods in the init script, and made it use modprobe instead. it works fine at first start now. the problem also seemed to cause cardmgr to complain about the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts syntax too. that felt pretty random though, since it looked fine. it didn't complain on restart. -- ____________________}John Flinchbaugh{______________________ | glynis@hjsoft.com http://www.hjsoft.com/~glynis/ | ~~Powered by Linux: Reboots are for hardware upgrades only~~
