I think all debian kernel-image works with pcmcia-cs if instaaled and
configured correctly in principle.

2.2 series needs to install corresponding pcmcia-modules (correct me if
this name is slightly off but you get my point)

2.4 kernels come with all the modules but needs pcmcia-cs to activate
specific card automatically.

   /etc/modules needs to contain followings for PCMCIA to function:
     # ISA PnP driver
     isa-pnp
     # Low level PCMCIA driver
     yenta_socket

   Rest is taken care by pcmcia script, depmod and kmod.
