RE: KDE - "initializing peripherals..."



WindowMaker worked okay with it, but I need KOffice, so I really do need
KDE.  If I can't downgrade to X3, I'll generate a new log file & post it.

I've had fanstastic luck with xserver-xfree86 (4.0-4.1). Though, if you've
used X3.x a lot, it's a bit different. Have you tried not using KDE? Does it
work then? Gnome? Or even just under fvwm or a lightweight window manager?
What window manager are you using?

Have a look at the online docs.

If you would like a hand, send out the contents of your
/var/log/XFree86.0.log. Or just have a look in there.
