No, it didn't help. But it was a good exercise.
I had built the pcmcia-cs source 3.1.25 package before. It was the non-debian version from sourceforge. I didn't know I could get a 3.1.25 debian package from unstable. Now there was a slight chance that the debian package would do better than the non-debian version, but it didn't. Both binary-modules and binary-cs built fine, and I have the new modules in /lib/modules...
I'm still getting the following dmeg output:

And I'm still getting a high and a low beep when I insert the card.

What other files and settings are relevant here? What could I try?
