Re: unexpected interrupt
Someone else replied that this problem was due to APM. I can't find
a way to shut APM down on this 760ED through the BIOS setup, so I
would assume it needs to be done with the PS2 utility. However,
that resides on the Win95 partition of the drive that won't boot.
The Linux boot hangs at the point where it says, "Freeing unused
kernel memory" just when it goes back to the drive to run init. I
did notice this morning that it took some time to read the kernel
image off the drive. Is there any code that LILO may put in the
boot sector that would cause this thing to act weird? If so,
how do I blast the LILO boot record away and see if booting to
Win95 will work again? Right now the drive is essentially useless
so I'm not going to hurt anything. <g>
This is a Thinkpad 760ED, BTW, and the drive is a 3.1 GB (the kernel
identifies it as a Toshiba). I am using the stock 2.2.14 kernel
which I've not yet custom recompiled. I'd been running frozen
potato on this drive for about a month when the IRQ timeout errors
started last Tuesday (May 16) afternoon. I had been keeping up
with the updates and had last updated it on Monday, May 15, IIRC.
