This problem happened on RealPlayer 5, G2 and now on version >7. Is this a problem with my Thinkpad (esssolo sound card), or with >Realplayer? Or maybe something else? imho the problem is with the current solo support and/or the design of the card itself. i'm experiencing heavy problems with my thinkpad 390x (ess solo1, too) running frozen/unstable/what-seems-to-work: it took me hours of fiddling with the pci-irq settings and includes/excludes to get both sound and a xircom realport ether+modem to run at the same time at all, let alone totally reliable. the solo1 does not want to run with shared pci irqs, at least that's what i've experienced here. furthermore, if i've got the sound modules loaded, the system seems to slow down quite drastically :-| with my machine, cd to squeaker works, wav works more-or-less ok, but mp3 is about thaaaaaat-sssslooooohohow, which does not make me especially happy :-( (i'm using xmms 0.9.5.1-4, and my machine has the latest available bios.) if anybody has coaxed the solo1 to work normally without using the commercial drivers, i'd be very interested in your /proc/pci, /proc/interrupts, /proc/ioports, dmesg (and /etc/pcmcia/config.opts, if a/v). please mail me, i'm willing to summarize the results. regards az -- ++ Dipl.-Ing.
