Can't you just stick an "options" line into /etc/modutils/aliases?  I'm
using
	options sb io=0x220 irq=9 dma=0 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x300

and it seems to work.  I stumbled upon this idea in
.../linux/Documentation/sound/AWE32
