Terminals (und vieles mehr) sind keine Geräte.

Es ist die Angabe der Einheit. Z.B. »die Masse der Äpfel in Kilo«. 
Analog zu Deinem Beispiel wäre »100 Byte Daten«.
Ich habe auch mal etwas im Netz gestöbert:

»Größe der BMP-Datei in Byte.«
Es finden sich mehrere solche Beispiele.
