Not only terminology, but also structure of sentences where carefully
proofread and discussed (not always, be we try).

Yes. There is always a tension between "radicals" from both sides.
Some are very keen on keeping the original terms which english
speaking people use ("you might want to google for it"), some are very
keen to translate every word ("Aunt Tilli"). So it is difficult to
find a good balance; thats one of the reasons why we have the
discussions going on here.

I think this is the key point. If you don't like a translation,
discuss it with the submitter (and preferably his -l10n list) to
understand his motives. If you are able to speak the language you
could also take over the translation as Kai suggests. But silently
changing the translation is rather disrespectful to the translator,
even if your reasons are valid.
