"Gemeinsam" habe ich genommen, weil ich dachte es gehe hier darum, dem 
Etch das gleiche Dateisystem wie dem Host zu geben, aber vermutlich soll 
es "einheitlich" heißen, denn weiter unten ist von "impossible 
combinations that would lead to non working live systems" die Rede. Also 
kann es innerhalb des Live-Systems zu Problemen bei der Kombination 
führen. Habe es geändert.

Du hast recht. Sowas gibt es tatsächlich. Ich kannte nur die flache 
Dateistruktur.
"A "flat file" is a plain text or mixed text and binary file which 
usually contains one record per line or 'physical' record"

Ich würde es so interpretieren, dass der Anwender es hier in der 
Konfiguration vorgibt. (Er soll schließlich noninteractive setzen)

Mir fällt nichts besseres ein. Inhalt und Umfang umfassen alles. 
"Zusätze" vielleicht? Obwohl bei einem Rückübersetzen käme man niemand
