Plain, but not very good - it would have benefitted from a pass
through debian-l10n-english to get the .pot translated into English

Your use of this phrase above was what attracted my attention.
Software isn't a count noun, so it never takes an indefinite article.
What you want is either "KLog is free logging software" or "KLog is a
free logging program".
By the way, it seems a pity that none of this ever uses the word
"logbook", which would help to distinguish ham-radio logging from the
syslog variety.

bit inappropriate - indeed, I'm not sure why new users are expected to

This is full of wobbly English. Oh, and wobbly HTML, since you can't
embed <ul>s or <h3>s inside a <p> without implicitly closing the <p>.
Is "general purpose, DX logging and contest logging" two mispunctuated
things or three? I'm going to guess three kinds of logging.
When it says "Enter your call", does that mean something other than
your callsign? As far as I can see on the net, even in hamspeak "a
call" is an instance of calling and "callsign" isn't abbreviated.
