In response to changes in the authentication and authorization 'landscape'
for IT infrastructures for research, the IGTF is indeed currently going
through a re-chartering process to change its official name. Since the
IGTF is a federated organisation involving constituencies in the Americas,
in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region, this process takes a rather
long time (approximately 6 months).
The new name ("IGTF: Interoperable Global Trust Federation", with the
appropriate byline) has of today been endorsed by two out of three
the constituencies (EMEA and Asia-Pacific) and will be formally concluded
in early June in the Americas, although interim support has been obtained
to change the name pro-actively on the igtf.net web site, as you have
found out.
In case supporting evidence of this change is needed, I may refer you to
the minutes of the January 2014 Plenary Meeting of the EUGridPMA, one
of the constituent members of the IGTF at
https://www.eugridpma.org/meetings/2014-01/summary-eugridpma-2014-01-abingdon.txt
(the equivalent materials presented to the Asia Pacific are not available
to the public for review).
I would support the proposal by Dennis to just call it "IGTF" in this
packaging effort, which is in line with the view of the Federation to
place increasing emphasis on the by-line in publicly facing materials.

We apologize for the misunderstanding that may occur during the transition
phase.
With kind regards,
David Groep
IGTF Chair.
