I am not sure what you are using to edit the translation and I am not too familiar with the tools even if I would know, but I know that a lot of tools exist to help translators in various ways which could highlight these and other potential problems with the translation, so you might want to look into this as well. (Running a popularity contest on the other po files suggests that others are using Lokalize (previously KBabel), Poedit or virtaal – if they provide this type of information.)
