Normally, it shouldn't. If the wait is not too long, maybe it's worth.
I suppose, with this release, the mirrors will get red hot and
uploading another 0.0.1 to the mirrors might upset them.

Just my 2 cents.

I could, but...

when you install Knoppix, configuration is minimal and you see what
the final product will look like. It's a huge advantage.

As a matter of fact, all I've got left to do would be to find out how
to reinstall my firewall, a stateful firewall that I wrote 3 years
ago with Daniel Robbins' instructions on IBM's site and a few hacks I
got on the net. With Slackware, it's very simple. You put the iptables
commands in:

/etc/rc.d/rc.firewall

then you:

chmod 700 rc.firewall

and you call it from:

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet2

this way:

if [ -x /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall ]; then
  /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall start
fi

System V is a little more complex, I believe. What's a good place to
get to this kind of nitty-gritty info without having to skim through
a 1000 pages?

I wish so much that this next version of Knoppix will ease things for
beginners.
