Hi Chris and KlausThanks very much for your replies and help. I just changed the "ro" to "rw" - and it WORKED! (vfat only of course :-) )
I'm not sure about the mail program sending a full line as/is. I'm using the Mozilla mail in Knoppix 20-01-2003 and I copied and pasted the info from Kate into the email.
I would 'never DREAM' of trying to write to a NTFS partition - but thanks for the warning. LOL
