[debian-knoppix] re: mounting problems

On another forum where someone else had the same problem, he was given 
the following command to see just what is at /dev/cdrom:

$ ls -l /dev/cdrom

$ lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            9 Nov 26 16:51 /dev/cdrom -> 
/dev/scd0

I tried as an experiment to mount both /dev/cdrom and /dev/scd0
I got nowhere, as you can see below:

root@Catrin:/home/jasmine# mount /dev/scd0
mount: can't find /dev/scd0 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

root@Catrin:/home/jasmine# mount /dev/cdrom
mount: No medium found

Any thoughts? I HAVE to be missing something...
