I was the oine who did this and you use a really old version btw. :-).
remove the file /etc/moutils/1alsa
do: "update-modules" (as root)
and the /opt/kernel-dir is no logner used.
Of course you "loose" alsa that way, but that should be no problem:
just move the directory /opt/kernel/alsa to /lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/alsa
And alsa should work as normal :-)
