Cool, and kind of surprising. So, the spinlock stuff does not even seem
necessary if we are using a semaphore on each device. Surely there are
race conditions if someone removes or changes image files while
startin a file read on the other CPU, but I think those cases are rare
and won't lead to a crash, rather to an invalid returned block (like if
we change the cloop file content while reading).

Btw, if you boot with
knoppix dma
UDMA should be turned on for your harddisks by knoppix-autoconfig.
