It's chosing LUN1 for Controller 0, Channel 0, SCSI ID 0.

Are you sure that your device was given this exact SCSI path by hotplug?
Did you check with dmesg?

This is what I get with dmesg with Knoppix (unrelated items snipped)
After that is my gentoo dmesg, which has CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN to Y in the kernel. Is it something in hotplug that is not picking it up, do I need to forget about accessing the second card on my reader? Thanks for the help.
