Re: [debian-knoppix] Re: debian-knoppix digest, Vol 1 #13 - 8 msgs
It is part of the Xfree 4.0 distribution, but it is not built by default
(when you *install* a system, you want an accelerated server).
Nevertheless, the code is shared with the Xserver used on the iPaq.
You will find all the building instructions on Juliusz's home page
(www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch look for software!), and you can get the configuration
files we used in XFree 4.0 to build the version used in DemoLinux
freom the sources tarball in ftp.demolinux.org/pub/demolinux/3.0,
but you can as well simply copy the Xvesa executable out of a running
DemoLinux 3.0 CD and test it, before embarking in recompiling XFree
(not exactly a short task).
Xvesa -screen 1024x768x16
does what you think it should do, and also automagically detects the
mouse protocol (on /dev/mouse). It is self contained, so it will work
also on a CD having no Xfree files at all (it has some built-in
fonts for this extreme case).
