Yes, the machine boots correctly, but it does not change to a high
resolution terminal (font), as it does in Ubuntu, and when X starts it
is supports neither xv video output (for scaling videos) nor 3D
acceleration (glxinfo gives me "OpenGL renderer string: Software
Rasterizer").

Strange.
# aptitude show firmware-linux-nonfree
gives:
Package: firmware-linux-nonfree
New: yes
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.34

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 12288 Jan 4 21:43 radeon
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 11 22:27 radeon
/lib/firmware/3.2.0-rc7/radeon:
/lib/firmware/radeon:
The contents of "/lib/firmware/radeon" are identical to those in
Ubuntu. "/lib/firmware/3.2.0-rc7/radeon" contains less files, and does
not contain those my hardware should require.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I feel like I'm stupid because
I don't get it to work.
I'm still interested in having it supported, but since I could reduce
my trouble with Ubuntu it is not very urgent for me anymore.

Vlado
