Subject: linux-image-2.6.24-1-amd64: AMD64 Dual-Core clock skew of 2.5%
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.24-4
Severity: important

My system clock loses 7.5s every 5 minutes, for what appears to be a
very consistent 2.5% clock skew. The hardware clock appears to be very
steady.

I'm running an AMD64 x2 5600 on an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe MB. I've tried
disabling HPET on the MB. I've tried booting with "noapic," with
"no_timer_check," with combinations of those and other flags, and just
about any other recipe I've been able to find on the web. I've tried
enabling Powernow and AMD Live on the MB.

I can't run ntp because the clock skews are too drastic -- the daemon
never peers.

I'm open for suggestions, up to and including building a custom
module/kernel with "Enhanced RTC option," about which I've seen hints
but no documentation.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. In the
meantime, I'm re-setting the clock via ntpdate-debian every 5 minutes
from a server on my subnet.

While I see this in the latest kernel, I haven't been able to get this
working in, e.g., 2.6.18 either.
