Re: Modules packaging policy - call for discussion

Let me try again: In order to build module packages for Debian

directory of linux-headers packages. -di kernel packages, however,
use only a subset of these flavours. My question is: How can I
determine the subset of flavours that are used in -di packages
and that it makes sense to build module udebs for?

Hm, I don't think you should care about it. d-i has its own mechanism to produce kernel udebs (both images and modules) from existing kernel packages (built from the 2.6 source). And few people expressed the point of view (which seems reasonable to me), that all the maintainers of out-of-tree modules should care about is making their -source package compliant with the future policy. Then somebody else (kernel team?) will care about building all the binary modules in one form or another in a way that they are synchronized with the kernel, and d-i will just go from there. Does it make sense?
