vesafb

I have a machine running Linux 2.6.9 (kernel I compiled myself from
kernel.org). I have the screen in 1024x768 with the lilo option "vga=791" to
use the vesafb.

It seems that with the Debian patch for 2.6.9 this doesn't work any more as
the vesafb has been changed. How do I use this? Is the change expected to
go into a future kernel.org kernel?
