With a high probably the bug is still there. I have run many many tests with older kernels and it does not happen all the time. I do not know when the volume is turned up, but there are conditions when when just loading the kernel image before any module loading occurs there is a crackling sound because something like the disc noise is picked up by the micophone. When you get to the point that you can load a module by /etc/modules or so and you load a sound module the crackling vanishes. So there are two bugs here: - _sometimes_ crackling sound up to the loading of modules - no detection and loading of needed sound module This was especially annoying when trying to install debian.
