There are lots of reasons for using an initrd, so it's not possible to
say it briefly. If you just want the Debian package to work, just
follow the advice. If you want to know more, be find somebody who
knows and ask.

Yep. It is a small glitch in mkinitrd and has been reported as a bug
against initrd-tools already. So I'm closing this repetition.
