Current `best' version is /usr/lib/j2se/1.3/bin/java.
Actually now I have seen that some javascript screens in internet sites do
work, so the problem could be in some incompatibility with my test code (it
is a java program which I downloaded from the NASA website over a year ago
which I have never managed to run).
