I installed libarts1-dev from sid on testing which also pulled the new 
libxrender1 in. Since then, I also get the following error:
kdeinit: relocation error: /usr/lib/libXcursor.so.1: undefined symbol: 
XRenderFindStandardFormat
startkde: Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation.
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory

I also got an error message box.
