KDE 3.1.4 and Audio/System Sounds
Hello!
Sorry for the previous post being in German - haven`t kept in mind that
this is an English speaking list.
Now, my problem is the following:
I used to have installed KDE 3.1.2 on my woody system (deb
www.debian.cz/pub/debian-czsk/kde/Debian/woody/i686) and everthing
seemed to work just right as far as I could tell. Then I wanted to
upgrade to the latest version from download.kde.org/stable/3.1.4/Debian,
I did both an apt-get upgrade and the second time purged all of KDE and
did a fresh install of KDE. Both times though, I did not get to hear any
system sounds. On the one hand I can test the sound system from the
control center/sound system tab, and it works. But when I want to set
the sounds for system notifications I can choose the files to be played
at startup, but when I press the play button, neither doI hear nothing,
nor do I get any error message, just nothing. Trying to play an audio
file from within konqueror also fails. There I get the message: kdeinit
could not launch kaboodle. But kaboodle works just fine when being
launched from konsole.
Anyone else having experienced this? Where else could I start searching
to get this solved?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Gruss,
Bjoern Beckmannn
